The Five Pillars

A Biblical Blueprint for Thriving in Business, Family, and Faith

Stop choosing between business success and family presence. The Five Pillars framework gives you a proven path to build a thriving business while being fully present as a husband and father.

You feel the tension every single day.

You love your family. You love your business. But it feels impossible to give both your best. Every hour spent building your business is an hour away from your wife and kids. Every family moment you prioritize creates guilt about work piling up.

The world offers you two options, and neither one works:

Hustle Culture

Our culture tells you to sacrifice everything for business success. Sleep when you're dead. Outwork everyone. Your worth is in your productivity. Family can wait until you've "made it." But "later" never comes. Your kids grow up, wife feels like a widow, & health deteriorates.

Work-life Balance

Work-life balance tells you to keep work and life separate, two opposing forces you somehow need to balance. But that's exhausting and unsustainable. You end up feeling like you're failing at both, and when you try even harder-it just doesn't work.

There's a 3rd Way

We call it the "Distributed Lifestyle", and it's the foundation of the Five Pillars framework. Instead of separating or sacrificing, you integrate work, faith, family, health, and relationships in ways that honor God and serve your highest values. You design your life so business supports your priorities rather than competing with them.

The Five Pillars aren't random categories. They're intentionally ordered and deeply interconnected. When you honor the order, everything falls into place. When you violate the order, everything suffers, even when it looks like success externally.

Why Five Pillars

Most business masterminds

Are secular and don't address the spiritual dimension of entrepreneurship.

Most Christian men's groups

Focus on spiritual growth but don't address the practical realities of running a business.

Most entrepreneur communities

Celebrate hustle culture, which destroys building a relationship with God & families & health destroyed.

BreakthruPreneurs exists to fill that gap

The Five Pillars framework provides a comprehensive structure for your entire life, not just your business. These pillars ensure that you never have to compartmentalize your faith, sacrifice your family, or neglect your health to build a successful business. Every meeting, every workshop, every conversation, every decision at BreakthruPreneurs runs through these Five Pillars. They are the filter through which we examine everything.

When the 5 Pillars are strong, everything stands firm.

Neglect the Five Pillars, and the entire structure falters.

How the Pillars Work Together

P1: Rooted

God 1st, Health 2nd, and I-Family 3rd,

P2: Build

Business and Financial Growth

P3: Connect

E-Family, Friends, and Colleagues

P4: Grow

Lifelong Learning and Development

P5: Give

Generous Serving and Impactful Giving

The Five Pillars connect and reinforce each other.

Pillar 1 (ROOTED) provides the foundation. Without God first, health prioritized, and family protected, the other pillars have nothing stable to rest on. You can't build a sustainable business through depletion.

Pillar 2 (BUILD) creates the resources. A well-ordered business provides income to support your family, margin to give generously, and flexibility to be present for what matters.

Pillar 3 (CONNECT) strengthens the relationships. Brotherhood, friendships, and professional relationships provide encouragement, accountability, and perspective you can't get alone.

Pillar 4 (GROW) expands your capacity. Continuous learning makes you a better husband, father, leader, and steward. Growth compounds.

Pillar 5 (GIVE) amplifies your impact. Generosity completes the cycle: what you’ve received, you pass on, investing in others as others have invested in you.

At BreakthruPreneurs, we rotate through the pillars weekly or per meeting. This rotation ensures we address your whole life, not just business. You can't compartmentalize when the framework demands integration.

Pillar 1: ROOTED

God 1st, Health 2nd, I-Family 3rd

Within I-Family, your wife comes first, followed by your children

This is the foundation upon which everything else rests. If Pillar 1 lacks stability, the remaining pillars cannot endure. We call it ROOTED because it represents where you draw your strength, your identity, and your purpose: from God, through your health, into your family.

God 1st

God First

God is not an accessory; He is the foundation of life. When you put Him truly first, your identity stays secure regardless of business outcomes, your decisions reflect wisdom beyond your own, your purpose rises above profit, and your peace anchors beyond circumstances.

At BreakthruPreneurs, we view God as the CEO of our lives and businesses. This isn't a religious checkbox. It's a decision that changes everything. We start and end every meeting with prayer. We engage Scripture to guide business decisions and hold one another accountable to Kingdom principles.

Health 2nd

You Second (Health)

Lorenzo once heard the phrase "The greatest wealth is health." You can't serve anyone well if you're not well. Health isn't selfish. It's stewardship. This includes physical health (exercise, nutrition, sleep), mental health (managing stress, staying sharp), emotional health (processing feelings, avoiding burnout), and spiritual health (daily time with God, prayer, worship).

We reject the lie that "real men don't struggle." Real men acknowledge their struggles, bring them to God, and get the help they need.

I-Family 3rd

I-Family Third

Your immediate family (your wife and children) comes before business, before extended family, before everything except God and your health. The "I-Family" designation is intentional. It distinguishes immediate family from extended family (which appears in Pillar 3).

Too many men sacrifice their marriages and children for business demands or extended family drama. We don't accept that false choice. Your kids won't remember your revenue. They'll remember whether you were present.

A father who never missed a moment—that’s the legacy we’re building.

What This Means Practically

We honor marriage and promote strong spousal relationships. We support one another as fathers, share parenting challenges and victories, and hold each other accountable to being present, not merely providing.

Strong families shape culture. Everything changes when we center our homes on God, prioritize health, and have thriving marriages.

PILLAR 2: BUILD

Business and Financial Growth

Work with your gifts. Lead with integrity. Steward your finances God’s way.

“Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart…” – Colossians 3:23

With the foundation solid (Pillar 1), we can now build businesses, improve our financial growth, increase our financial education/understanding, and build financial futures that honor God and serve our families.

The goal of Pillar 2 is to build a God-honoring business and financial life marked by excellence, stewardship, and sustainability. We believe our businesses and finances are not separate from our spiritual lives. They are essential platforms through which we honor God, serve others, and build Kingdom legacy.

Kingdom Entrepreneurship

Principle Driven, over Money Driven.

Integrity Over Income. Service Over Sales.

Long-term sustainability over short-term gains

Kingdom Impact over Personal Empire.

When we pursue wealth, we lose direction. When we pursue God and His principles, provision follows, but never as our master. Our businesses become platforms for ministry: serving clients with excellence, treating employees with dignity, operating with integrity, giving generously, and boldly being speaking and sharing our faith.

Work "On" your Business, Not Just "In" It

We teach our MCBC members to shift from being self-employed technicians to becoming true business owners, leaders who create value, build teams, and design businesses that can run without them being present 24/7.

Working "ON" your business means building systems, shaping strategy, and developing your team.

Working "IN" your business means handling daily tasks and becoming the bottleneck.

Biblical Financial Principles

We follow a simple financial framework: GIVE 1st, SAVE 2nd, INVEST 3rd (optional), and LIVE on the rest. God is our CEO, the true source of all provision. We are stewards, not owners. Everything belongs to Him. We manage money with biblical wisdom, avoiding debt slavery and building financial margin so we have a capacity for generosity.

What This Means Practically:

We exchange strategies, share challenges and successes, and seek feedback on business decisions from businessmen who share our values. We learn from one another’s experiences, celebrate financial wins without idolizing money, and provide support through business struggles.

When you BUILD with God at the center, everything you create has eternal significance.

Financial Growth

Through practical tools and education, we empower members to build sustainable financial systems, covering investment strategies, real estate, life insurance, and reserve funds.

With wisdom, accountability, and the guidance of God’s Word, we help one another navigate economic shifts, avoid consumer traps, and pursue generational impact. Together, we cultivate financial teams, group-based advisory resources, and mutual lending options rooted in trust and biblical stewardship.

We encourage periodic reviews of financial plans, knowing that wise counsel and humility are key to long-term stability (Proverbs 15:22).

Every client served, every deal made, and every dollar given is a chance to reveal God’s glory and advance His Kingdom. By honoring Him in our business and finances, we fulfill our role not only as providers but as builders of legacy, agents of restoration, and ambassadors of Christ in the economy of this world.

PILLAR 3: CONNECT

E-Family, Friends, & Colleagues

Lead in your relationships. Reflect Christ in every connection.

“Do everything in love.” – 1 Corinthians 16:14

Once God, health, immediate family, and business are in proper order, our focus expands to broader relationships. Pillar 3 emphasizes intentional connection, building and nurturing meaningful relationships with extended family (E-Family), friends, colleagues, and professional partners. God created us for connection: first with Himself, then with others. It is through these relational bonds that we reflect Christ’s love, grow in character, and experience the fullness of life God has for us.

We were meant to thrive in community, bearing one another’s burdens and celebrating each other’s victories, not to walk through life in isolation (Galatians 6:2).

This pillar reminds us that every interaction is a divine appointment, every relationship a stewardship opportunity, and every gathering a chance to represent Jesus with love, joy, and integrity.

We recognize that God often works through the very people He has placed in our lives, using their presence to shape us and our presence to minister to them. We honor these connections by creating intentional rhythms of communication, gathering for meals, celebrating milestones, and starting conversations that build trust and vulnerability.

E-Family (Extended Family)

Within our extended families, we are called to be peacemakers, encouragers, and godly examples. Whether it's a cousin who needs guidance, a sibling who's struggling, a parent who needs care, or an in-law who needs grace, we approach these relationships with grace and truth.

Extended families are often complex. There are old wounds, unresolved conflicts, and differing values. But we are called to be different. Forgiveness becomes a powerful tool, not a sign of weakness, but of spiritual strength.

Reconciliation is a priority because it mirrors the Gospel that reconciled us to God through Christ.

Friends (Close Friendships)

Genuine friendship is rare and valuable. We invest in friendships that sharpen us, encourage us, and challenge us. BreakthruPreneurs itself becomes a primary expression of Pillar 3 for many members. In a world where male friendship is increasingly rare, where men often feel isolated, where accountability is missing, this community provides brotherhood.

This isn't networking.

This isn't transactional relationship-building.

This is genuine friendship among men who share values, challenges, and commitment to following Christ.

Colleagues (Professional Relationships)

Business partners, employees, clients, vendors, even competitors. We respect and treat everyone with integrity, knowing that we build our reputation through many small interactions.

We also commit to cultivating relationships within our professional environments that are rooted in respect, humility, & Kingdom character. As Christian businessmen, we lead not by titles, but by example, treating employees, networking prospects, & mastermind partners with kindness, fairness, and dignity.

Titles do not define worth; the image of God in every individual does (Genesis 1:27).

Social and Fun

Equally important is the practice of social wellness and leisure, gifts from God meant to restore our joy and renew our strength. We recognize the value of rest, fun, and fellowship in maintaining a healthy rhythm of life. It’s not laziness to pause; it’s obedience to the principle of Sabbath rest (Exodus 20:8–10). Therefore, we encourage MCBC to intentionally plan moments of connection and joy with loved ones. This includes cost-conscious gatherings like family potlucks, weekend events, game nights, or community outings that allow us to build stronger bonds without financial strain.

These moments aren’t secondary; they are sacred. They create an environment where marriages are refreshed, children feel seen, and friendships flourish. Many entrepreneurs fall into the trap of endless hustle, neglecting their families and friendships until crisis hits. Pillar 3 stands as a preventative guardrail, reminding us that success without relationships is empty.

We must fight for time, time to be present to vacation with our families, to sit in silence with God, to laugh with friends, and to simply enjoy the people He’s entrusted to us. As we schedule business meetings and client calls, we must also schedule time for connection—because relationships are not distractions from our purpose; they are part of it.

The "Be Like Jesus" Approach

In all relationships, we model Christ: serving rather than seeking to be served, speaking truth in love, extending grace while maintaining standards, forgiving offenses, being present and attentive, and valuing people beyond their utility to us.

Jesus exemplified genuine connection, making time for people, noticing the overlooked, listening deeply, asking thoughtful questions, celebrating, empathizing, and serving. Pillar 3 calls us to follow His example in building authentic relationships.

Connect with empathy, intentionality, and joy. Whether at home, at work, or in the community, every connection becomes a reflection of His Kingdom. We are bridge-builders, peace-bringers, and light-bearers in every relationship. And in doing so, we become whole, not just successful men, but godly men, deeply rooted in relationships that last beyond the business and into eternity.

PILLAR 4: GROW

Lifelong Learning & Development

Stay teachable. Pursue wisdom. Apply the truth.

“Let the wise listen and add to their learning...” – Proverbs 1:5

As BreakthruPreneurs, we recognize that spiritual maturity and godly leadership are not destinations; they are journeys of continual refinement. Pillar 4: GROW reflects our commitment to lifelong learning as both a personal calling and a sacred responsibility.

We believe in continuous growth: personally, professionally, and spiritually. Stagnation is the enemy of thriving. The moment we think we've arrived is the moment we decline. Pillar 4 reflects our commitment to lifelong learning as both a personal/professional callings and a sacred responsibility.

Growth Is a Form of Worship

Scripture calls us to grow in wisdom and understanding, to seek knowledge like hidden treasure (Proverbs 2:1–6), pursue knowledge as treasure (Proverbs 2:4), and renew our minds daily to be transformed into Christ’s image (Romans 12:2).

In a world that constantly changes, Christian men must anchor themselves in truth while practicing agility, remain steadfast in faith but adapt their methods.

Lifelong Learning

Lifelong learning is not just about career advancement or intellectual curiosity; it is about becoming more of who God created us to be so that we may better serve our families, lead in our businesses, & reflect Jesus in every environment we enter.

We never stop learning. This includes reading books that challenge and expand our thinking, attending conferences and workshops, taking courses, learning new skills (both business and personal), studying Scripture with increasing depth, seeking mentorship from those ahead of us, and learning from peers with different experiences.

This pillar invites MCBC to embrace every opportunity to grow, whether in character, skill, leadership, or mindset. Our group fosters a culture that values education as an act of stewardship of time, of gifts, & of calling.

We pursue wisdom in both biblical truth & practical knowledge, recognizing that God's Word is the ultimate source of wisdom (2 Timothy 3:16–17), while also leveraging seminars, books, mentorship, & experience as tools for sharpening our influence.

Growth becomes worship when rooted in humility and directed toward God’s glory. We encourage members to take ownership of their development with a heart that says, ‘Lord, grow me to better serve You and others.’ In today’s fast-paced world, we must actively seek knowledge that informs decisions and amplifies effectiveness. To support this, we offer diverse growth opportunities—workshops, masterminds, leadership retreats, book studies, and digital training.

Personal Growth

Becoming better husbands, fathers, friends, and Christ-followers. This means developing emotional intelligence and self-awareness, processing past trauma and breaking unhealthy patterns, building better communication skills, growing in patience, wisdom, and character, and becoming more like Christ in thoughts, words, and actions.

In our GROW pillar, we create spaces for brainstorming, innovation labs, and cross-discipline collaboration so members can solve problems, birth ideas, and build businesses that bless others and honor God.

Professional Growth

Beyond acquiring knowledge, true growth happens through application & accountability. We encourage all members to engage in growth partnerships with men who will walk alongside one another to challenge, support, and ensure they live what they learn. If we apply truth, it will change lives; wisdom without action wastes potential. Whether it’s implementing a new business strategy, improving family communication, or renewing daily spiritual disciplines, we grow by doing, not just by knowing (James 1:22).

Becoming better business owners, leaders, and stewards. This means developing new capabilities that serve our businesses, learning to lead teams more effectively, understanding emerging technologies and trends, improving strategic thinking and planning, and growing in wisdom about when to grow, pivot, or exit.

The Power of Lorenzo’s Story

Lorenzo’s personal background, hardship, and past "mess" provide a powerful, unique story that qualifies and connects him with others. Remember, God doesn't waste our pain. He redeems it for Kingdom impact.

Lorenzo once said, “The more and stronger the pain you experienced, the more men you will impact.” The abuse Lorenzo survived has qualified him to help others heal with similar problems. Our unique mess becomes our unique message to the world, especially when you let God redeem it.

What This Means Practically

BreakthruPreneurs offers monthly educational workshops, book studies and discussions, expert guest speakers, peer-to-peer teaching (leveraging each member's unique wisdom), accountability for learning goals, and a culture that strongly encourages questions and acknowledging knowledge gaps.

When you "GROW" with God at the center, you become more like Christ and multiply your impact. GROW is not about getting smarter for the sake of pride or promotion. It’s about becoming more like Christ, the ultimate Teacher & Servant Leader. It’s about stewarding our minds as gifts from God. It’s about using what we learn to impact our homes, churches, & communities. As Proverbs 1:5 reminds us, “Let the wise listen & add to their learning, & let the discerning get guidance.” We choose to be that kind of wise man, always growing, always learning, and always becoming.

PILLAR 5: GIVE

Generous Serving & Impactful Giving

Live generously. Serve others. Leave an eternal legacy.

“It is more blessed to give than to receive.” – Acts 20:35

As BreakthruPreneurs, we recognize that generosity is not just a financial principle; it is a spiritual posture. This pillar is about using your God-given purpose, resources, and influence to serve your communities with a generous heart. Pillar 5 calls every MCBC to reflect the heart of God through selfless service, sacrificial giving, and a commitment to building a better world for future generations.

Pillar 5 calls every Married Christian Businessman with Children to reflect the heart of God through selfless service, sacrificial giving, and a commitment to building a better world for future generations. We give not to gain recognition, but because Christ gave first. Our giving is a direct response to the gospel. Jesus laid down His life so that we might live, and we now lay down our time, talents, and treasures so that others might experience His love through us (John 15:13). In this pillar, we lead with open hands and willing hearts, knowing that when we give, we take part in God’s redemptive work on earth.

We Give Because Christ Gave First

Our giving is a direct response to the gospel. Jesus laid down His life so that we might live, and we now lay down our time, talents, and treasures so that others might experience His love through us.

When we give, we reflect the heart of God—the ultimate Giver (John 3:16). We serve because He served us, invest because He invested in us, and love because He first loved us.”

It means showing up for others physically, emotionally, and spiritually. It means investing in the lives of the broken, the lost, and the overlooked. Whether it’s volunteering at local schools, serving alongside other ministries, organizing neighborhood cleanups, or stepping into leadership roles in community improvement projects, we approach service as worship. Our local communities are not problems to avoid; they are mission fields to engage.

We give generously to our churches, to causes aligned with God’s purposes, and to those in need, understanding that generosity is the currency of eternal impact.

Time, Talents, and Treasures

Pillar 5 highlights the power of collaborative service. Through initiatives like SOLVE A COMMUNITY, BreakthruPreneurs unite their skills, wisdom, and resources to address real challenges. These efforts involve sustained commitments to strengthen the communities where we live and work, not just onetime projects. Serving together deepens relationships, ignites faith, and glorifies the name of Jesus.

We contribute our time to causes, organizations, and people that matter. Not out of obligation or guilt, but from overflow and genuine desire to serve.

We leverage our unique skills, knowledge, and abilities to help others. What comes easily to us might be exactly what someone else desperately needs.

We give financially to churches, ministries, charities, and causes that align with our values and accomplish Kingdom work.

The Mentees Program:

Serving Future Generations

We also believe that strategic generosity builds a legacy. Giving is how we multiply our impact across generations. Through mentorship programs, youth outreach, and practical training for young entrepreneurs, we pass down more than just knowledge; we pass down wisdom rooted in Christ.

Part of Pillar 5 is the Mentees Program, which serves young entrepreneurs ages 16 to 25 who are not yet members but are part of our Kingdom assignment. These young men are our future leaders.

We mentor them not just to succeed in business, but to walk in integrity, build strong families, and lead with godly courage. Through workshops, internships, and shadowing opportunities, we model what it means to be Christian men in the marketplace.

Once these young men qualify as Married Christian Businessmen with Children, they're eligible for full membership. Today's mentees become tomorrow's members who mentor the next generation. It's legacy-building in real-time.

The Proof: Distributed Lifestyle In Action

Lorenzo built TekkieTeks (28 years, thousands of clients) while playing baseball/softball and coaching his kids' baseball teams for 30 years, attending every game, being fully present at home. He broke the generational norm his father modeled (absent, abusive, emotionally unavailable, and abusive) by designing his family (Pillar 1) around his family. Lorenzo learned early on that you design your lifestyle around the business but your business around your lifestyle.

The Five Pillars framework has what worked for Lorenzo, and it's working for BreakthruPreneurs members today. You don't have to figure this out alone anymore.

What This Means Practically:

We organize and lead community service projects where our members' talents serve their purpose best. We contribute collectively to meaningful causes, mentor young entrepreneurs through the Mentees Program, leverage our businesses for Kingdom impact, and foster a culture of generosity that inspires greater giving.”

Giving with open hands reflects God’s heart.

Giving strategically multiplies impact across generations.

Giving sacrificially builds a legacy that endures for eternity.

Giving is WHAT we do & WHO we are

As godly businessmen, we are called to leave behind more than material wealth. We are called to leave behind a testimony of love in action. We give our time to the loneliness, our energy to the broken, our wisdom to the young, and our resources to the underserved, not because it’s easy, but because it’s holy. In a culture that glorifies self-preservation, we will be the countercultural men who live to serve. Our faithful will define our legacy giving, not by what we kept.

When we GIVE, we mirror the heart of God, who is the greatest Giver of all (John 3:16). We serve because He served us. We invest because He invested in us. And we love because He first loved us. This is how we build eternal impact. Our call is fulfilled this way. This is BreakthruPreneurs.

Common Questions About the Five Pillars

Q: Do I have to be perfect in all five pillars to join?

A: Absolutely not. Nobody has all five pillars perfectly aligned. BreakthruPreneurs is for men who recognize they need help and are committed to growth. We meet you where you are and walk together toward where God is calling you.

Q: How is this different from other business masterminds?

A: Most masterminds focus only on business and revenue. The Five Pillars address your entire life: faith, health, family, business, relationships, learning, and generosity. You can't compartmentalize when the framework demands integration.

Q: What if my wife isn't supportive of me joining another group?

A: We've heard this before. Most wives become our biggest fans once they see the transformation: a husband who's more present, more peaceful, more purposeful. BreakthruPreneurs isn't something that takes you away from family; it equips you to be better for your family.

Q: I'm too busy to add something else. How much time does this require?

A: Two hours per week for meetings, plus engagement in our Skool community between meetings. But here's the truth: the busiest men are often the ones who need this most. The Five Pillars framework will help you reclaim time, not lose more of it.
