Member Covenant

The BreakthruPreneurs Member Covenant

This is what every man here agrees to. Not a contract. A covenant, which is a different thing and a heavier one.

A covenant, not a contract

A contract negotiates terms. A covenant binds a man to a way of life. We publish it openly so you know exactly what kind of room you are walking into before you apply.

01

I keep the order.

God first. My health second. My wife and children third. My clients fourth. I will not always live it well, but I will not pretend the order is something else, and I will let other men ask me about it.

02

I tell the truth.

My real numbers, not my impressive ones. What I did not do, not what I meant to do. What is actually hard right now. A room built on performance cannot help anybody, and I would rather be known than admired.

03

I keep what is said here.

What a brother says in this room stays in this room. His prayers, his health, his marriage, his children, his revenue, and his failures are not mine to repeat to anyone, including my wife. I will not carry another man's struggle into my own teaching, writing, or marketing. I will not use what I learn here to gain advantage over a brother.

Two exceptions, and they are not negotiable. Disclosure required by law. And a genuine concern for the safety of a child or a person at risk, which goes immediately to leadership. That is not breaking confidence. That is protecting someone. This does not end when my membership does.

04

I show up.

Consistently, and I tell somebody when I cannot. A man who is absent half the time is not in the room, and the other men notice before he does.

05

I do what I said.

Or I say plainly that I did not. Both are acceptable. Quietly hoping nobody asks is not.

06

I do not sell to my brothers.

No pitching from the front, no cards in the meeting, no working the room. If a relationship turns into business, it will do it the honest way, slowly, because he trusts me. Not because I positioned for it.

07

I serve somebody who cannot repay me.

A young man in the Mentees Program, a brother whose seat I sponsor, a service project, or a role nobody wants. P5 is not the optional pillar, and my success is not complete until I have multiplied it in somebody behind me.

08

I take correction.

From men who have earned the right to give it. Humble enough to receive it, and strong enough to give it back when it is my turn.

09

I leave well, if I leave.

Without bitterness and without disparaging this brotherhood or the men in it. If I have a grievance I bring it directly and privately first, the way Matthew 18 says to, before I take it anywhere else.
